New Kids Repackage Album: “I’m Ok”

At last the details for iKON’s repackaged album have been released by YG Entertainment!

The repackage album comes with a new release title track called “I’m Ok” which is as the fandom expected since the boys have been obliging enough to spoil it for us weeks ago!

The “I’m Ok” announcement was accompanied by a moody and grainy black and white poster featuring the boys in suits posed around a black vintage car and giving off an extremely classy feel. The gorgeousness of the boys have iKONICs asking themselves if they are, in fact, indeed ok.

Interestingly, seeing that the image is located in a tunnel answered one of this year’s fandom mysteries concerning a missing MV with scenes from a tunnel based off posts made by Donghyuk in March. Actually the boys must have been pretty anxious to share this track and MV as they have been providing us with spoilers for months!

It looks like iKONICs will be starting 2019 well.

YGE Postpones iKON’s Repackage Album till Uncertain Date.

On Dec 23, a mere week till the formerly confirmed date of Dec 31st for the release of iKON’s New Kids Series Repackaged album, YGE has announced a reschedule.

YGE has cited “distribution” problems and apparently the date is being pushed to “around early January” with an official timeline to be announced at the oh too familiar timing of “soon.”

YG himself posted this information on his personal Instagram along with a screen shot of the album cover and, possibly because there is no material prepared to promote the album, a scanned page from iKON’s recent Arena Homme editorial.

iKONICs have expressed disappointment but have as a whole pronounced themselves far from surprised for the following reasons:

1. No pre-sale or even any details at all have been made available since the announcement 2 months ago till now almost a week to the original release date.

2. This is a repeat offence for YGE who even had to reschedule and delay iKON’s debut album.

3. This is YGE. They kind of have a reputation.

iKONICs have decided to turn their disappointment into proactivity by working on streaming iKON videos, “Killing Me” in particular and voting for iKON on end of year awards.

In the absence of information before now iKONICs have also entertained themselves with what we can now consider a tradition of making fan made promotional material to help drum up awareness for iKON’s incoming work during their company’s habitual delays in giving them adequate publicity. Some have even updated their material to reflect the recent news!

iKON meanwhile were booked and busy marking a 2nd date Dome performance at Japan’s Kyrocera today that was reportedly well attended. The busy boys have already flown back to Korea presumably for the SBS Gayo Daejun to take place on the 25th.

iKON will also be appearing at the V HEARTBEAT Year End Party 2018 in Vietnam on the 28th. Let’s keep supporting our best boys all the way!

iKON Releases Bouncy Dance Practice Video for Rubber Band!

The Dance Practice Video for the fan gift single, Rubber Band is here and as usual DanceKON delivers!

The boys are smooth and slick with their formations in a choreography that has them elongating moves and bouncing low. The choreo is cleverly reflective – just as the lyrics are – of the feeling of being stretched and released like a Rubber Band!

No matter how many times we see them dance iKON always impresses! One is filled with questions like when did they even learn the choreo for a song they only recently finished recording? How long must they have practiced? How amazing are they?

We are looking forward to finding out who the choreographer behind these smooth, stretchy moves is! Until then don’t forget to like and share the video!

Update: iKON will kick off Rubber Band promotions from Sunday, March 11th on Inkigayo!

“Rubber Band” is about to Snap into our lives!

Today YGE finally revealed the name and credits for the surprise new track that iKON will use to extend their Return promo!

iKONICs will be happy to see that the members of the genius collaboration that gave us “Love Scenario”are also involved with the new track which is called “Rubber Band.”

According to YGE front man Yang Hyun Suk and iKON’s leader Kim Hanbin, the track is to be seen as a gift to fans and an opportunity to spend more time with our boys!

Are you looking forward to the surprise track?

iKON is still topping all major Korean charts 37 days after dropping Love Scenario and just recorded their 160th hourly Perfect All Kill! AND their 6th Music Show Win on KBS Music Bank (LoveScenario6thWin) (Its getting difficult to keep up with the achievements they come in literally as we type) Incredible!

UPDATE: 165th Perfect All Kill (we are gonna take a break from counting for now! Phew!)

iKON’s “Double B” Debut as Variety Show MCs

It was announced today that iKON’s rappers Kim Hanbin and Kim Bobby will be special MCs  on February 3, Music Core together with RED VELVET’s Yeri.

This is the first time since debut that any member of iKON will be a music show MC.

It seems that iKON’s first  venture into world of emcees had garnered a lot of interest.

Both iKON and RED VELVET have had successful comebacks this past weeks and are competing for no.1 place on various music charts. However, many of their fans have interpreted this competition as cute interaction and were hoping for groups to interact in real life as well and not only on charts. Music Core is making their wish a reality.

For the promotion of their new album, Return, iKON has promised to have many activities in Korea as compared to their usual promotion cycles. From recent announcements like these it seems they have every intention of keeping their promise.

iKON “Return” Tops Pre-Order Charts!

The results are coming in for just how much iKONICs miss iKON and the answer is apparently A LOT!

iKON’s 2nd Full Album, “Return” which will be released on January 25th at 6:00pm KST has managed to rise to the top of pre-order charts both in Korea and Internationally.

The album has a Black version and a Red version and in some cases would enter the charts top 2 or top 3.

Love Scenario – iKON’s new title track revealed at last!

DTZkDhZUQAAb9PQ

Today, YGE at last revealed a title track for iKON’s 2nd Full Album Return to the joy and excitement of iKONICs all over the world.

Love Scenario is said to be a medium tempo emotional song with precise choreography that members practiced deep into the night to perfect.

Lyrics are by B.I,  Bobby and Motmal (a Korean poet) and composed by B.I, Millenium and 승 (a mysterious contributor).

Anticipation was already plenty but it is now dizzyingly high thanks to the information revealed – and why?

1. Ballad/MidTempo: if you are a fan of iKON you know how since Welcome Back the boys have continued to deliver on the slow tracks in multiple languages be it original tracks or Remixes!

Just Go

You and the Rain

Perfect Acapella

2. Choreography: iKON has never and probably will never fail on choreography wether it’s fast or slow, complex or simple, precise or adhoc! Plus have you seen them dance to slow songs??

Rocket

Apology

Peng You

3. New Blood: With Millenium joining DoubleB at the composing helm we are truly getting a taste of YG’s young blood composers and a fresh sound from the company! Also there are contributions from a Poet in the lyrics and the mysterious 승

4. iKON: Seriously, it’s iKON!

iKON is scheduled to come back on January 25 and we are eagerly waiting for the full track list as well as schedule announcements for the comeback activities.

Is This Beauty Real? The Mystery of iKON’s Come Back MV

iKON’s official instagram account WithiKONIC released an image of Bobby today and in doing so finished the hashtag series: IsThisBeauty/LookReal that was kicked off on December 28th 2017 with a lovely picture of iKON maknae Jung Chanwoo seated in a Diner style couch gazing intently into his phone.

That picture was followed by mathyung Kim Jinhwan sending a finger heart and a flirtatious look from what looks like a changing room.

After this came Hyung line’s Song Yunhyeong with another finger heart but with a passionate feel.

Leader, Kim Hanbin saluted us next after a successful day of shooting.

At this point the series was interrupted by a behind the scenes shot from the MV set where the boys sit gathered together and chatting in their habitual way, giving off a warm feeling.

Then the series continued with the next maknae line member, Kim Donghyuk cutely nibbling on some kimbab.

Koo Junhoe rounds up the maknae line after this, also staring intently into his phone in a hard to identify location.

The recently rather elusive Kim Bobby, face half hidden with a hand sign was the final image.

iKONICs still have NO idea what the hashtag means (a song title? A refrain? A red herring?) but we wonder if we will finally be getting the much anticipated announcement of a Come Back date for the boys.

Till then we search the images for clues!

All we can say so far is that all images feature a soft aesthetic which is most probably a characeristic of the MV that they filmed. The boys are either dressed in boyfriend looks or heavily covered under quilted coats. They are also predominantly located at the “Diner/Cafe” setting so we have reason to believe the MV will definitely feature such a set.

Other clues we have received have come via VLive including Donghyuk providing a very tiny spoiler and Junhoe describing the MV as something similar to a “Musical.” Aside from these there was a heavily filtered image from what appears to be the MV Shoot posted on mouthpiece of YG, Yang Hyun Suk’s instagram.

The general aesthetic of the set and their looks combined with these clues that have been dropped have led iKONICs to speculate that the MV that was shot will either be a ballad or a mid-tempo track. This is exciting news for iKONICs as fandom favourites tend to fall under these categories.

Lets all hope the wait won’t be for too much longer for a Come Back date announcement and details along with the rolling out of a promotion cycle plan starting with Come Back Teasers.

Let’s Dance

iKON is coming back boys and girls, and with comeback there is likelihood of  us enjoying iKON’s awesome dance moves.

There has been some talk among iKONICS about possible choreographers working with iKON and everyone is curious; will it be Parris Goebel again or someone new.

We took a look at  past choreographers that worked with YG and who knows maybe among them is the choreographer for iKON’s comeback.

We are starting with the queen of  choreo herself, Parris Goebel. Out of all the choreographers that worked with YG artists she is the most well known one and deservedly so as she worked on some of the most iconic songs that came out of YG; Big Bang’s Bang bang bang, Taeyang’s Ringa Linga, CL’s Hello Bitches. She has also worked  with iKON on Rhythm ta and Bling Bling.

But to iKONICS the favorite collab with iKON is probably Team B’s pre-debut performance of her choreo to Get like me. There is no doubt that Parris and iKON go really well together.

Keone and Mariel Madrid, dancing and choreographing wife and husband couple. Mariel did choreo for 2NE1 Clap your hands.

Keone worked with Se7en while he was still a YG artist on his Better Together comeback. Keone is one of the better known kpop choreographers as he has done choreo for many prominent boy groups. He also recently joined the dance crew Kinjaz.

On the subject of Kinjaz, iKONICs encountered some interesting information on the website of one of the members, choreographer Vinh Ngyen.

Could he be the new choreographer for iKON?

Shaun Evaristo is probably best know for his work with Taeyang  on “Wedding Dress” and “I Need A Girl”.

Kyle Hanagami is one of the most recent choreographers to work with a YG artist as he choreographed Black Pink’s Boombayah.

Question is will iKON continue to work with Parris (and we do love them together) or are we in for something new?
