New Kids Repackage Album: “I’m Ok”

At last the details for iKON’s repackaged album have been released by YG Entertainment!

The repackage album comes with a new release title track called “I’m Ok” which is as the fandom expected since the boys have been obliging enough to spoil it for us weeks ago!

The “I’m Ok” announcement was accompanied by a moody and grainy black and white poster featuring the boys in suits posed around a black vintage car and giving off an extremely classy feel. The gorgeousness of the boys have iKONICs asking themselves if they are, in fact, indeed ok.

Interestingly, seeing that the image is located in a tunnel answered one of this year’s fandom mysteries concerning a missing MV with scenes from a tunnel based off posts made by Donghyuk in March. Actually the boys must have been pretty anxious to share this track and MV as they have been providing us with spoilers for months!

It looks like iKONICs will be starting 2019 well.

YGE Postpones iKON’s Repackage Album till Uncertain Date.

On Dec 23, a mere week till the formerly confirmed date of Dec 31st for the release of iKON’s New Kids Series Repackaged album, YGE has announced a reschedule.

YGE has cited “distribution” problems and apparently the date is being pushed to “around early January” with an official timeline to be announced at the oh too familiar timing of “soon.”

YG himself posted this information on his personal Instagram along with a screen shot of the album cover and, possibly because there is no material prepared to promote the album, a scanned page from iKON’s recent Arena Homme editorial.

iKONICs have expressed disappointment but have as a whole pronounced themselves far from surprised for the following reasons:

1. No pre-sale or even any details at all have been made available since the announcement 2 months ago till now almost a week to the original release date.

2. This is a repeat offence for YGE who even had to reschedule and delay iKON’s debut album.

3. This is YGE. They kind of have a reputation.

iKONICs have decided to turn their disappointment into proactivity by working on streaming iKON videos, “Killing Me” in particular and voting for iKON on end of year awards.

In the absence of information before now iKONICs have also entertained themselves with what we can now consider a tradition of making fan made promotional material to help drum up awareness for iKON’s incoming work during their company’s habitual delays in giving them adequate publicity. Some have even updated their material to reflect the recent news!

iKON meanwhile were booked and busy marking a 2nd date Dome performance at Japan’s Kyrocera today that was reportedly well attended. The busy boys have already flown back to Korea presumably for the SBS Gayo Daejun to take place on the 25th.

iKON will also be appearing at the V HEARTBEAT Year End Party 2018 in Vietnam on the 28th. Let’s keep supporting our best boys all the way!

D-day poster released for today’s comeback

With the strike of midnight in Korea iKON’s final D-day poster was released announcing that  in less than 18 hours iKON will release their new mini album New Kids: the Final thus concluding the New Kids series.

It is more than fitting that iKON is concluding their New Kids series looking all grown up and mature.

This is iKON’s third comeback this year which is not unusual for kpop but it is more than unusual for YGE. After going through drought years this is the year of plenty for both iKON and iKONICS.

Let’s work hard and enjoy this comeback with iKON!!!

The Teaser that YGE Founder, Yang Hyun Suk touted as “too powerful” has finally arrived and – it appears he didn’t lie.

Hanbin’s unique tone, loaded with world weariness takes us through a heavy but addictive refrain as we see each of iKON’s members in various framed shots, all aesthetic, all equally moody. Just exactly right for a song called “Killing Me.”

It’s the perfect type of Teaser too. Not giving away too much, just enough to leave you thirsty for more, a complete turn around from Love Scenario’s interesting promo style and iKONICs LOVE it.

iKON is set to come back at 6pm on August the 2nd with Title track “Killing Me” and subtitle track “Freedom.” Until then I think we all know what to do with this Teaser!

iKON “Return” Tops Pre-Order Charts!

The results are coming in for just how much iKONICs miss iKON and the answer is apparently A LOT!

iKON’s 2nd Full Album, “Return” which will be released on January 25th at 6:00pm KST has managed to rise to the top of pre-order charts both in Korea and Internationally.

The album has a Black version and a Red version and in some cases would enter the charts top 2 or top 3.

Get ready iKONICS we have our first goal for iKON’s come back.

The lovely people at @KONVIEW have set the goal for LOVE SCENARIO MV at 4 million views on YouTube within first 24 hours.

It might seem like a lot but for the first time we have only one MV to focus on and since before now we’ve done more numbers combined for two MVs we can definitely do it!

@fromyg Instagram Teasing for iKON Comeback – Puzzle Pieces that don’t fit

With iKON’s January comeback imminent fans are eagerly waiting  for the date of the album release and for signs of better promotions than the lackluster ones that have been typical of YG for iKON till now.

Fans from different time zones are waking up in the middle of the night to see if there is a new teaser or comeback date released.

It seems like he is cropping the photo of each individual member and saying that the 7th piece of the puzzle will contain the comeback date. He also commented on iKONICs requests saying he will “try” and fulfill them all.

Now this is this writer’s personal opinion and correct me if I am wrong but – shouldn’t good promotions and an actual promotion plan be something that a company does for their artist as par for the course?

Promotions are not something you, and I quote Mr. Yang Hyun Suk here, “try” to do. They are a part of your basic duties as an Artist’s Agency and representative. Promotions are your job. Promotions are not a favor done to iKONICs , they are a bare necessity.

The idea that there is no promotion plan for this comeback is highly disconcerting, though, granted, this could just be a very bad idea of teasing for a comeback and not the actual state of affairs.

However, we know that the dismal lack of Korean promotions for iKON or almost complete absence of them (like in the case of Bobby’s album, Love and Fall) is an ongoing bone of contention between YGE and iKONICS that led to last year’s petition and boycott.

So using it so flippantly as part of a “teasing” process seems at best ill advised and at worst downright insensitive of YG’s Yang Hyun Suk.

Now, I am not trying to be a negative Nancy here, but honestly I have seen what this has done to many iKONICS and I can tell you not a single reaction was positive. There is no need to make this such an unpleasant and stressful experience for the fans. Comebacks should be enjoyed and celebrated but it seems like Yang Hyun Suk has forgotten this or perhaps he just lost that piece of the puzzle.

We are half way through the 2nd week of January and can only hope as the “teasers” suggest that we will be able to share iKON’s actual Come Back date with you all by the end of this week.
